WHO AM I ?
... your next
employee of the
month!
Hello! My name is Robyn and I LOVE anything design and fashion related. To put it simply, DESIGN IS IN MY BLOOD. My dad tells this story of me as a kid and how I used to change into a different dress at least five times a day. While I don't wear dresses anymore, not much has changed because I am constantly going from activity to activity. On the weekends you can find me in a kayak, on a bike, or attached to skis. During the week I am usually living my best life at the yoga studio or climbing gym. My lifestyle means I demand a lot out of my clothes and they need to be both comfortable and performance driven. So my design aesthetic is focused on function and the end user.

I HAVE A
... passion for fashion!
While living in Toronto, attending Ryerson University, and completing a degree in Fashion Design, I interned my heart out. From merchandising Pink Tartan's head office showroom to creating a custom python leather dress for Evan Biddell, I learned a lot and was able to apply my knowledge to further my studies and get more out of the program.

After graduation I moved to Montreal to learn more about Canadian fashion. I enjoyed every moment shopping vintage at Eva B.'s, appreciating the craftsmanship of Marie Saint Pierre, and figuring out what I could sell second-hand to afford something from Denis Gagnon. However, the biggest highlight was attending a talk with Rad Hourani in 2014, one year after he was inducted into the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture in Paris. As the first Canadian accepted into the syndicale, it was a major moment for Canadian fashion!

Since moving from Montreal to Calgary, my interest in fashion have changed from haute couture to activewear. While many would not consider Calgarians to be stylish, it is in Calgary that I learned about cutting edge brands like Arc'teryx, Mountain Hardware, and Outdoor Research. Although I was surprised to find myself working at an outdoor store, I found "my happy place" by day three during textiles training at MEC. MEC was an "in between job" that lasted six years because I was constantly learning something new. I am extremely thankful for the education I received there, and know I learned as much at MEC as I did at Ryerson.

When I lost my job due to the pandemic at the end of 2020, I decided to take it as a sign that I was meant for bigger and better things. I have accumulated a large amount of knowledge, skills, and experience over the past decade and am ready to contribute that to a new team. Worldwide, Canadian fashion hasn't always been "on the map", but it is growing in today's global economy and I am here for it. I believe in the talent of Canadian designers and the ability that Canadian labels have to increase their reach. So let me help YOU build your legacy!
MY MOTOS
Fail better + Show up
What did I fail at this week ? is important question to ask yourself. As a perfectionist in my youth, I did not realize that a bend in the road is not the end of the road. Over the years I have challenged myself to try new things and have learned a lot in the process. Failure has built my resilience, I have become more courageous, and can apply the lessons I have learned from my failures to fail better and to fail upward. Secondly, Keanu Reeves said it best when he said "one of the most important things in life is showing up" (Hardball, 2001). This quote speaks to the importance of persevering, because when you do your chances of overcoming barriers and accomplishing your goals increases.
